Founding Visionaries (2015-–2020)
The truth is, the story began long before the clinic opened.
Several years ago, I had the extraordinary privilege of studying Ophthalmology with Clinical Practice at University College London and Moorfields Eye Hospital, widely recognised as the world’s leading institution for ophthalmology.
That opportunity was made possible through the generosity and belief of my spiritual father, Deacon Abraham Incoom. His investment in my education became one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me.
Training at Moorfields transformed the way I understood eye care. I came to appreciate that accurate diagnosis is the foundation of excellent treatment, and that advanced eye imaging is not simply technology—it is essential to preserving sight and improving outcomes.
When I returned to Ghana, I carried one conviction in my heart: our country deserved access to this standard of diagnostic eye care.
Around the same time, a generous colleague, Dr. Danso Debrah, helped us acquire our very first Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine. That single act of generosity became the seed from which everything else would grow.
Five years ago, we opened our doors as the IASON Centre of Eye Imaging and Digital Health.
Our focus was specialised eye imaging. We were not a comprehensive eye clinic. Our mission was to provide world-class diagnostic services that would support better eye care for patients and eye care professionals alike.”
Since 1921, we’ve been guided by medical innovations and a mission of developing lifesaving treatments.
